To improve the quality of tap water which is becoming ever more chlorinated, Water Express Ltd incorporate the Omnipure filters into their 'inline' water dispensers. The first stage of the filtering uses active carbon designed to remove chlorine and other organic chemicals such as pesticide and herbicide residues. This improves the taste, colour and odour of the water. The second stage unique to the Omnipure filters is the 1 micron ceramic filter which will remove any remaining unwanted extraneous particles from the water - in particular Cryptosporidium and Giardia, which are harmful if ever consumed and unfortunately are being found more frequently in our mains water supplies.

Cryptosporidium and Giardia cause respectively a medical condition known as Cryptosporidiosis/Giardiasis. Infections may be asymptomatic or may cause diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramps, fever, vomiting and headaches. Infected individuals will usually recover from the illness within several weeks.

Since the 80's, Cryptosporidium and Giarida have become increasingly a major concern for water authorities.

Incorporated into every Omnipure filter body design are engineering features that make Omnipure products the best, most cost-effective inline water filters on the market. For instance, every filter features a patented spring disc that keeps media under ideal pressure and eliminates channeling. Polypropylene inlet and outlet pads prevent media migration that can foul water. Lastly, all Omnipure filter components are friction welded together to eliminate the use of glues or binders that can contaminate drinking water.

Most of the home drinking water filters found in today's market are Granular Activated Carbon filters.

The filters for this type of drinking water system are typically constructed of porous cellulose fibers and/or activated carbon granules and are used to remove specific contaminants. These filters trap dirt, rust, sand and silt and the carbon reduces the taste and odor of chlorine and other substances.

Some Specialty Filters remove Cysts, Cryptosporidium, Lead, VOC's and/or other contaminants.

Carbon has a long history of being used to adsorb impurities and is the most powerful adsorbent known. One pound of carbon has a square area of 125 acres and can adsorb thousands of different chemicals.
